music industry
1. How has the way in which you obtain music changed over the years?
Back on the 1950’s music was sold by people selling big records which would be sold very expensive for those people in the 1950’s, whereas now to the 21st century the records which were sold back then were sold extremely cheap. Records went out of fashion back in the 1980s and things such as tapes and CDs were invented. Whereas round about 2007/8 you could start downloading and streaming music from your phones/tablets/computers. Things like Bluetooth in cars has made music such a big turnaround. Back in 1950’s you would have to go to the corner shop to buy a record or in the 1980’s you could walk round to the shop and have to buy a cd just to listen to your favorite music whereas in 2017 you could be lying in bed and download a song and play it where ever you want without spending a lot of time going out trying to find the correct song. You can just simply type a song into YouTube and can listen to the music which bests suit you.
2. How do you find out about music that's new for you?
Things like top 40 have been invented where it shows the top 40 UK top hits based on best-selling album, or which as the most streams, it varies. The top 10/40 gets played on the radio on different music channels. This is useful because when you are in the car and listening to the radio and a song comes on you like you can then go onto google and simply type a couple of the lyrics and the title of the song will come straight up. You can download/stream however you wish. The music that best suits you are in playlists. For example, on SPOTIFY there are many different playlists based on what you love to listen to.
3. What format of music do you buy/use?
I personally use an app called Spotify. I then search all of my favorite songs and stream them I pay £3.99 a month which saves me money instead of going to the shop and buying the album and then this allows me to listen to my music whilst my mobile data is turned off It is optional to get notified every time a new album is released on the app so I then get the top music in the charts.
